I bought a L185 with a Kubota front mount snowblower about a year ago. I'm not really happy with it. The control valve does not have a float position. Also it is powered from a front pto. If the pto is engaged, you can't lift the blower because it puts the drive shaft at to much of an angle. I think I could mount the blower on the 3pth. This would solve both problems, however reverse on the tractor is so slow. Does anyone out there with an old L series have a rear mounted snowblower have some advice?

Moosehead:
My older tractor Nuffield 465 now replaced with a M7040, had a 3 pt two stage snow blower. It backed up too fast for the blower to get rid of the snow.
I found the British manufacturer in the 1960's had produced a special low speed reverse gear. It involved a lot of work inside the transmission and yet was still to fast in heavy snow. Was I pissed.

What saved me in a weird way was a serious neck injury and turning my head to operate the rear mounted blower was impossible.

I decided to go with an inverted blower or drag behind blower. It is the same two stage design as the normal 3 pt blower except that the auger and fan are now right behind the tractor.

Suddenly I had all forward gears as a option for a speed to blow snow at. Yes I had to drive through the snow I wanted to blow but it was not the problem I thought it might be and the Nuffield was 2wd.

Some members of this form amaze me with their fabrication and welding skills. You may be one of them.

Study these pictures and picture your blower facing the rear of your tractor and how you could attach it.

Pay particular attention to the pto rotation needed by the now backwards blower and the one on the tractor. If they are not the same the game is over.
Although not readily apparent the pto shaft is connected to the hub for the fan. This can be done in several ways.
