Hello all! On my BX2230 the front impeller shaft keeps sliding out of the knuckle. On the rear side of the knuckle there is a pin that holds it in place. On front end of the knuckle there isn't anything to hold it in place. With that, when you get on uneven ground the shaft pulls out of the knuckle. I mow some really steep ditches and can't with out 4x4. thanks for any advice!

thanks Journeyman!! However, it is the shaft, part #170 that slides out of the U-joint part #160.

Something is either damaged or out of alinement as that joint is supposed to slide, in order for it to not bind.

Check all three pins and make sure they are intact, I've seen the rear roll pin sheared and the joint too far back. ;)

Check the snap rings on each side of the bearing, the bearing its self and that the bearing flange is not damaged letting the bearing move back and forth. One of those is letting the shaft move rearward and pulling the yoke, #160 off of #170.

I have never seen it but I guess it's possible that the axle pivot pin bracket could be so worn that your front axle is rocking back and forth. Slim chance thou.
