I am having a problem finding the correct flat face hydraulic connector to fit on my Kubota KX040-5.

I thought it was a #10 ORB, but even though it is very close in size it won’t thread.

According to local hydraulic shop it is a #8 British thread. This does thread but I am concerned that it might not seal since it doesn’t have a O-Ring at the base and instead relies on a bevel to seal that the coupling doesn’t seem to have.

The attachment is a hydraulic post hole digger, and the max flow is a little over 17 GPM. It has a Holmbury HQ12 coupler.

Can anyone please provide help on what fittings I need please?

Do away with the adapter and thread in directly to the orange pipe on machine.

There are TWO different types of “British threads”.

There was/is BSPP (parallel threads) and BSPT (tapered threads). This site describes the difference in thread types. To make it a bit more confusing they are now identified by DIN standard (G is BSPP). And used in the metric world but use inch sized threads!

You probably have BSPP threads on the tractor. The loader may have been built in Japan or in the USA so I won’t venture a guess what was used but if it is British it is probably the BSPP and needs a sealing washer.

Good luck.

Are you trying to mount a coupler on the pipe?

What does the other end of that male flat face coupler look like?

What is that plug you are holding in the black gloves?

It appears the fitting on the pipe is a BSPP female oring port.
