Hello All,
Trying to help out my daughters horse boarding barn. They have been fighting their L3901 since Nov 2024.

It ended up a two different Kubota dealers trying to find solution. Ended up replacing ECM? not sure if that is what they call them on these kubota but the brain module. Got it back 2 wks ago finally running and it lasted an hour or two they said.

P0093 on display, wont start. Internal Fuel Leak? The fuel shutoff/filter ( sediment bowl ) housing had been having issues with not screwing down tight so the owner ordered one from kubota.

They have been having me go over and move manure for them because they havent had a tractor for over 6 mos. Its ran by a mom n 3 daughters so trying to help them.

So it has 3500 hours, I installed the fuel assembly and no fuel would enter the housing. I thot fuel tank restriction.......I blew backwards on the hose into the tank and it burped and fuel came flooding out, however it stopped so i didnt now if there was some kind of friction valve that is overcome by the suction of the lift pump because when I turned the key on it filled the bowl with fuel So the lift pump is working.

My question is it supposed to be gravity flow out of the tank on the L3901. I am thinking maybe slime/algae in the tank from sitting for 6+mos, or even something could have fallen into the tank etc if it indeed is supposed to be gravity flow.

TIA for any guideance before I have them call the dealer to come get it out of the pasture. I dont know if these are prone to internal fuel leaks or if a tank restriction would cause a P0093 code.

So if it's just not getting fuel out of the tank, why not go out with CLEAN jug of CLEAN fuel nd short length of fuel hose. Remove the fuel line from tank to first filter. Tie the jug somewhere above filter level, pull a siphon on the jug and fuel line, slip it onto the filter. That should get it back to the barn. (provided the problem is only getting fuel from the tank)

thanks.........yes i guess that would tell me if it is beyond a gravity feed issue

There should be no fuel flow restriction, there is something in the tank if fuel is not flowing.

a tank restriction would cause a P0093 code.
A tank restriction will cause DTC P0093.
There is some debris in the fuel tank plugging the outlet port. With the separator cup off or with the hose removed from the separator, the fuel should flow freely until the tank is empty.

Hi All,

I wanted to give an update and let you know there was indeed a tank restriction. I took an external tank I rigged up and got it to run, i was able to burb the tank with air back up through the hose and drained out a couple gallons. I am not sure what the restriction was and didnt see anything. I advised the owner of killem/biokleen and for her jugs, tank and sourcing of fuel be observed for issues.

after connecting things back up to the tank, i ran it for about 20 minutes around the horse lots and pushing manure and it worked fine.

thanks for all of the great help/info. Glad its going for them and I now have a portable tank i can use for other such occassions for testing.
