I really appreciate all of the input from all of you. Lots of good ideas. Selling mama on a grapple will take some time. I just bought my dream splitter which is not a small ticket.

I use IBC totes with a hole cut in the front to store and move my wood around.

I can load one up with more wood than the loader is capable of lifting.

However you can't really "dump" it. The tote would slide off the end.

They are relatively cheap too.

I found a guy in "the Hood" (AKA Downtown Detroit) that sold them for 15 buck a piece so I bought 30 of them.

(I did however need to bring a gun, with lots of pre-loaded mags, and a friend with the same......Oh and you best be out by sundown, or things could get "interesting").......But did I mention they were only 15 bucks ;)

I have seen guys cut the plastic cubes diagonally, to make a roof for the wood. They tied the "roof" down with zip ties.

I did not get/want the plastic inserts. They were filled with some sort of "Mystery Resin".

I don't need to grow a 3rd arm out of my forehead......... :D

I use the plastic inserts to keep the wood dry. I cut the tops off and keep them as lids and drill 3" holes in the bottom for drainage and ventilation.

I refuse to buy totes without an MSDS sheet attached declaring the contents. There's some pretty nasty stuff in some totes that I don't want ending up in my well water.

My old neighbor who grew up farming before becoming a federal and eventually state law enforcement officer and now has moved back to "farming" the old family homestead enjoys restoring old Fords and welding. Some of his welding art is real cool. Recycles old farm stuff into art. He had some steel piling up and figured he better build something before the wife sent it to the recycling center. He designed a "pallet fork" style unit that attaches to the 3 pt. Allows for in the seat loading and dumping the logs. After a few misses all the angles were set proper once you set your top link to the correct length. He noted it's not an original concept. Just tweaked what he has seen to allow for a more functional design. Now his old Fords had a "loader".

Thought was clamp to the bucket pallet fork blades or a quick attach pallet fork implement. But went the expensive route with the grapple. One additional use for the grapple. Sort of a rake.
