My son-In -Law has a Farmall C, it is 6 volt. He has an 8 volt battery. His newer charger kicks it from 6 to 12. Besides getting a different charger, what is the best course of action for him going forward? Stay with 6 volt or what would it take to change to 12v, changing the generator and maybe coil? Thanks for any tips.

We have two 6V tractors. Nothing particularly wrong with the system. Unless you have some real reason to switch to 12V I’d stick with 6V but you’ll need a battery charger capable of 6V compatibility (seems most 6V can be switched between 6V mode and 12V mode). There are 6V compatible battery maintainers also. Batteries Plus and Agri-Supply carry the 6V batteries in our area. Others may as well, don’t know.

My old Farmall C has the original 6 volt system and it works fine...I'd keep it and get a suitable charger/ maintainer
