Extra long 3pt draw pin

Our B2601 (used) came with a landpride quick hitch. It is too wide for our disk harrow. QH is ~29" harrow -s ~27". Is it possible to put longer 3pt Pins on to get an extra 2-3"? Or would this create too much torque/bending at the pin joint. Had the tractor not come with one, we likely would have gotten a Pats QH. That is the simplest answer, but if I can save $180, why not.

Unless you weld on another bracket toward the outside edge of the implement and make the hitch on the implement a clevis type, then put a really long pin in it, even if you could find an extra long pin it’s going to put a heck of a lot of torque on the pin mount. Just my thought based on absolutely no calculations whatsoever.

That was my thought. Figured I would see if anyone had the same gut reaction or experience. I thought about adding some additional support, but at that point $180 on a new quick hitch seems to make more sense.

If you’re a competent welder (I’m not) it would be a lot less than $180 to tack on a couple more brackets and put a couple of Grade 8 bolts across the gap. Or buy the Pat’s, sell the QH, and all you’re out is the difference.

There are some engineer types around here. Could be one of them will weigh in with a better solution. Whatever you decide, good luck with it.

why not just get rid of the QH and use the OEM 3PH setup ??

another possibility is to remove the two pins and replace with a single, solid bar, using either Rpins or tubing sections for frame alignment.

That is what I am doing at the moment. It works, but quick hitches are quicker. To your point, it really wasn't that hard to get the disk harrow hooked up. My trick is being 6'5" 250, getting leverage on an implement isn't that hard for me. One big reason for making the decision is if I do switch to not quick hitch, I will need to cut my brush hog PTO. That wouldn't be too hard either, but means I have made my decision moving forward.

The only way I've been able to get 3ph implements on reasonably easy, was to have them on level concrete pads with custom blocks. I've since converted all to Snap-Coupler so 30 seconds on , NO adjustments and 30 seconds off. Life is waaay too short to be fightin 3ph....

What is the Snap-Coupler?
