Extended Warranty Worth It? & General Questions

Hello, I'm still in the process of narrowing down my search and am leaning heavily towards a b2650. Is the extended warranty the tractor and implements worth the cost? I'm looking at maybe getting the backhoe and obviously the FEL.

Also had a question about options for valves. I see these things as options like 3rd valve, hydroponic angulation, 2nd position lever, double acting valve, float detent valve, etc. Do I need any of this and if so which ones should I be getting?

The b2650 on kubota's site that I've priced had had a lot of options, it came to just under 48k, so i'm hoping I can get 15% off that if that is what some dealers offer to bring it to 40k and paying in cash. I added a cab, backhoe and some of those valves. I'm still kind of up in the air about the backhoe because I'm not sure I'll get 8k worth of use out if it. The cab I prefer because here in MO in the summer it can get 100 degrees and stay there for a week or more like it did last week and cutting grass and doing work w/o AC sux. So as I'm narrowing down my search any other advice on what I should or shouldn't get?

There is another post on the extended warranty, the consensus was that you probably wouldn't use the tractor enough to need it. As far as extra remotes, I wish I had at least one. If you want to add adjustable top and side links to the 3 point, you would want 3 remotes in addition to the loader, and possibly a remote on the loader for a grapple would be sweet also. How much $$ do you want to spend now, remotes can always be added latter, just easier now.
Mowing with AC does sound good too.

I wouldnt bother with an extended warranty. More often times than not, extended warranties aren't worth it. It's a numbers game.

I'd recommend a quick attach for your FEL, and a set of forks. I've used mine a dozen times already since I got it. No regrets there.

As far as the backhoe, a friend convinced me to get mine. I'll tell ya, when you use it, you'll be glad you got it. Nothin worse than diggin in the heat. I plan to get a trench attachment soon enough from bxpanded. I plan to run some really long underground sprinkler lines for some distant gardens. I find once you have the attachments, you can find work to do with it. Also acts as a nice ballast.

I picked up a toothbar as well. Another worthwhile purchase.

Besides some very minor issues with my B2650 I'm satisfied with the purchase so far.

Just make sure you do a bit of research on your dealer beforehand, and do some comparison shopping. There's some bad eggs out there. GL

If you can use a backhoe enough, great! My worry is, for the few times I'd use it, I can rent a mini tracked excavator. In the meantime, I don't have to store the backhoe. And, while your backhoe is on, you lose the use of your 3-pt hitch.

Question is, which will you use more? The hoe or implements?

$8000 will rent a mini-excavator for a few weeks.

Choices!

Thanks guys. As for the valves is there any specific that are kind of must have right now at purchase? I don't mind adding them on but since this is my first time doing it I want to make sure I do it right.

As for the BH I'm still up in the air. It's a property that never had a house on it, we cleared out trees and there is some clean up work. Yes I can rent one cheaper but at some point renting becomes a negative return. A mini ex runs $250 a day(for 8 hours of use) if you have a way to pick it up/take it back, add $100 if you need delivery. While that sounds a lot cheaper than 8k, it only take 30-35 days to break even, if i have the rig for 5 years min before I do something with it, I would like to think I would get more than 30 or so day of BH use. Plus I can always sell the BH, and if you break a track on a rental then the cost just shot up. I'm still going back/forth. Does anyone know if the BH frame has to come off to use the MMM? I've also looked a stump buckets which are way cheaper and may do 75% of the work I would use with a BH.

And what about adding a BH later on, any changes need to be made other than adding the frame and the bh itself?

I am buying a backhoe. Of course, I can rent excavators, but that means that I can't do anything "today." I'd have to pre-plan all my work. If I have a backhoe, I can do it today.

My wife likes operating machinery, and she will go crazy while I am at work, so my yard can be all full of pits and holes when I get home. Now, THAT is the danger of a backhoe!

Ok so I'm confused on the remotes and stuff as to what I would get. The salesmen stated 1 would probably be more than enough with that size tractor. Is there a reason why I would want 2 or 3? Coming from a newbie here I'd like to get stuff done at once if there are certain attachments I may need it for. Also not sure on which bucket to get. Is the 60" light material bucket really just for light work is is that more just safety speak? Is the bucket thinner or something?

Also, any thoughts on getting a cab and running AC while using implement? Will this tractor be enough? Will it struggle when I'm tiling or cutting grass with the AC on? thanks

I can't find any clear cut facts on the physical difference between the 54" and 60" buckets. Some say it is for safety sake as you mentioned, where it carries too much for its own good.

Other's say it may bend and to just get a pair of teeth to compensate (I have a 60" and a piranha bar) Just need to watch how you work with it as not to tip over or break something.

Other's go for the 54" for maneuverability in tight spaces. So far I've used the 60" bucket loaded to the max with clean fill and had no issues. I drove with the bucket low, and have a backhoe to offset the weight difference.

I also had the AC on while moving and grading the clean fill I was working with. No issues there. After 15 mins or so in working in 90 degree weather I had to turn the AC to low as it was too cold :). Previously I had a 3350 with the front lights, rear work lights, heat and radio on while using the front mounted 63" snowblower. I had no apparent power drain issues and I was running the machine at full open throttle.
