I got this tractor for free, it ran but had a noise, diagnosed the front piston had slop so I pulled the pan and found the bearing gone on the rod, I haven't decided that the engine is junk yet, but I am actively looking for a replacement until i tear it down over the winter. Does any one know what models will fit it? It has a d950 in it. I would think there would be other models that would fit.

I bought D950 out of NY and had it shipped to ID and it only cost me $150 to have it sent to me.
Fastenal store's have very cheap shipping!

No, he's saying you can buy an engine just about anywhere, have the seller drop it off at their local Fastenal store, and they will ship it to your local store:

There are lots of D950's out there. However, if it were me, I'd bite the bullet and rebuild yours. They can weld up the damage to the crank, you will likely need a new rod, and the balance of typical rebuild parts. You got the tractor for free, it'd be like new with a rebuilt engine, and you'd only have about $1500 in it when all was said and done. Great deal on a really good tractor!

Yea, I haven't ruled that out yet either. This winter i'm going to split it and do something. I see these crank and bearing kits on ebay and wonder what they are about. I plan on pulling it down and taking it to my machine shop for his opinion, but he told me rebuilding it is going to be big $$$s. So we will see.

Sorry missed this one earlier.

I got one of the kits, it was only a top end kit but every thing fit exactly like it was supposed to, and the materials they used were in some cases better than original materials.

I've still got my D750 complete and I'm thinking of getting a full rebuild kit and rebuild it over the winter and either sell it or use it for some project build. It just needed rings so it's a good base to start from.

Awesome, Thanks to both of you. If my machine shop says things are still salvageable I'll go this route.

Tear down starts this winter. If all goes well I want to find a mower deck and possibly a loader for it.
