I have a B2910, and when I went to turn it on a month ago, some white smoke came out from under the dash, so I quickly turned the key off. I had just refueled and thought I had spilled diesel on something hot and it just vaporized, because when I tried the key again, there was no smoke and it started right up.
But, my battery just got weaker over the next few weeks, and finally stopped turning the engine over. The battery was OLD, so I bought a new battery, but that finally went dead too. I charged it back up and started the tractor, then checked the voltage across the battery with the tractor running at 2K rpm. It was 12.8V, so I don't think it was charging.
After reading the manual, I saw that the "Easy Checker" Electrical Charge lamp SHOULD come on when the key is turned ON, but it NEVER comes on. So...what does it mean when the "Electrical charge" light doesn't come on when the key is turned? Have I fried my "Easy Checker", or does it sound like the alternator/regulator, or what? Finally, is an electrical diagram available for the B2910? I have the parts manual, but that's not much help to me.
I know which end of a wrench to hold, and how to use a meter, but I'm not a mechanic, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
