First time poster here, I came across this forum looking for answers to my ignition switch problem. It appears to be all plastic (even the inside) and the key itself is very short. This combination has led to wallering out the plastic keyhole over time and now the key just falls out while in use. I did some digging on the Parts diagrams and it looks like Kubota changed to a longer key and changed the key switch to metal innards.

However, I cannot find anywhere if this newer design will fit the older Z421's like I have (older is considered by Kubota to be any serial # <19032). The photos of the switches look identical from the back and also look like they would interchange.

Has anyone else had this issue with their Z421 and performed the "upgrade" to the newer part? I called parts dept but they would not sell me anything other than the "original" part and kept dodging the question on whether the newer part would fit. Id hate to find out it doesnt fit and pay shipping both ways. Many thanks in advance for helping.

Older Z421 Part# K3011-62110
New Z421 Part# K3011-62170

not on 421's but many on Z121's and ZG1xx's. Probalby the same switch kit. Comes with a harness adapter. You might open up the illustrated parts list and see if your original switch is the same as an early serial Z121SKH or even a ZG123/125/127. I would imagine that it will retrofit. If the part numbers are the same as the Z100's, it's likely interchangeable.
