B7200 with a kubota b9163 power steering unit added after purchase. I have used it for years with no problem. It is pouring fluid out the top of the steering column of all places. PS still works fine. I'm thinking a pressure relief valve?? By the way it is a stream not a drip. I hope someone can help me.

I cannot find much useful info on your ps system.

I find a manual for the B9162 ps which was for B5200, B6200 and B7200 on eBay.

eBay

The Kubota parts on line show a booster style system but I do not think that is what the B9162 system is.

In the booster system the ps control valve is built into the hydraulic cylinder and there is no hydraulic connection to the steering box.

If there are hydraulic hoses going to your steering box, then the control valve for the ps. is in the upper portion of the steering box.

It would be far more likely that a seal has failed leading to the massive leak rather than a relief valve related problem.

Relief valve issues show up as low pressure as springs weaken over time or dirt is holding the valve open.

Your power steering is likely used on other Kubota models but I do not recognize which one,

Buying the eBay manual would be a good investment if only to get part numbers as I cannot find your particular box by searching the B9163

Very unlikely it's a pressure relief issue, it sounds more like a blown seal.

Start by going Calling Messick's and see if they can get the manual.

If not then go here and buy this manual, you might get lucky and it will have a parts breakdown on it.

I am lucky enough that Dad kept the original operators manual. Which is actually an installation manual. The B9162 is for B5200 B6200 B7200 E/DT The model B9163 is for the B5200 B6200 B7200 HSE/D Hydrostatic. I agree with you 100% that springs get weak and dirt ect.. I hated that a customer would do this to me and I have just done the same to you guys. I am very sorry. Let me start at the beginning so you have ALL the information. The control valve to the right and just below the seat. (3 point hitch) That lever started drifting to the lower position. Within what seemed like minutes you couldn't take your hand off it. Put it in the full up position and it would fall so fast it would bounce when it hit the lowest position. No resistance at all. I asked the mechanic at the local dealership and without hesitation instantly said I had a broken shaft inside the control valve. I have not studied the valve to figure out how it works (yet) but I took it apart looking for the obvious. I found nothing broken. I did find a poppet that had some rust and was stuck in the closed position. I assumed this was the reason for the over pressure (if that is the problem) The first time I took the valve apart I did not do a complete disassemble as I was looking for a broken shaft. Mechanic told me I couldn't harm anything to go ahead and finish cleaning up the snow. About an hour in is when my fountain out the steering column started. This machine has only 232 hours. Always kept inside in heated and air cond. As soon as I remove some oxidation from the paint it will look like show room. Once again I feel bad for not giving you all the information from the start. THANK YOU so much for your insight and help. I have turned my fair share of wrenches on farm tractors to tractor pullers to race cars and everything in between. My very first Kubota
