It's a good thing that we are in the dry season. This was Sunday night:

We had over 10 inches of rain and most of it in about 2 hours. A neighbor had her house flooded for the third time. We never had this much flooding for as long as I have lived here. Fortunately, only my truck got about 2 inches inside the cab. It is all apart now for WD40 on the floors and cleaning of the carpets and mats.

Fun! We are supposed to get 1.5 tonight. Had some sprinkles today. Not looking like were going to get anywhere near that.

With you being an @xrocketengineer I guess you'll have done a risk analysis and decided on options. In the 2000s we looked at projections and decided to keep away from coastal zones (not saying that's where you are, it was just our decision relating to the NZ situation). We looked at a 100 year (projected) flood maps and using Google earth draped the maps over satellite images. It was thought-provoking taking into account the potential for 100 year floods to be more frequent. Winters here where we settled were projected to get wetter, summers drier, so I planted the slopes of the gully in front of the house with poplars to help stabilise the soil. Still, I wonder if it's enough. Hopefully our dry season doesn't turn out like yours. Good luck with whatever you do.

Apparently the situation in the neighborhood has been much worse than initially appeared. It seems that at least three houses had been flooded since this is the worst flooding ever. The ongoing story is that when the county fixed the drainage for the neighborhood last time, they increased the pipe sizes (y).

However, where the outlet of the 76"x48" pipe is at a canal, the county installed "grating" to prevent the manatees from getting inside the pipe (n).
One of the neighbors claims that the grating was clogged up with debris. He tried to remove the debris during the rain event (14 inches the latest claim) but he could not and the water backed up. He then went to warn some of the other neighbors. The neighbors want to have a "discussion" with the county.
