Being new to tractors I have a questione regarding drawbar. I probably won't be using it to much to tow with my bx2670, however I will be using it to pull smaller logs stumps and saplings. Understanding the lower the point of gravity for the frame mounted one makes for less chance of flipping the tractor, is there a benefit for a 3 pt hitch drawbar? Which style would be better for the tractor?

Drawbar is by far the safest. You can be tempted to lift on a log that may be stuck, but pulling with a chain on an upwards angle reduces drag, will prevent it frm digging in and stopping you in your tracks.

I skidded probably 30 cords of tamarack in tree length 10 inch diameter average at the butt with a webing/chain setup. Tied to the back of a yamaha big bear. Have used the same method for many years. But,its stupid if you get careless you can get hurt.

I have used my 3 point on kubota for pulling stuff but to get rammy will only result in damage or and injury. Play safe. Add weight to front end.

When pulling with attaching to the rear of the tractor somehow, keep in mind why they tend to flip over backwards. Any attachment above the elevation of the axle tends to flip the tractor up over backwards and with the tractor going forward, tends to put less pull load as the front end lifts. Thus, once one is going forward with the front end lifting, with reduced pull load, there is less and less pull load in a short distance traveling making it more and more likely to flip. So once it starts to flip you have to quickly stop, throw in clutch etc. or over you go.

Yes the draw bar is what you use, I have skidded logs up about 15 inches on the butt end with my BX if you can pull from the smaller end.
Now pulling stumps is another animal all together, remember your BX is a LITTLE tractor, you dont have a D8. How ever that being said it can be done. Head over to TS or even HF and find a good block and tackle, and you will be able to better remove stumps, just remember you have to think things through a lot more with these little guys, they will do the work it sometimes takes a little longer and some thinking, some times out of the box as they say.
For pulling saplings, again depending on how big they are, see if you can find an old wheel from a tractor trailer. Then wrap the chain around the base of the sapling and over the top of the wheel to the draw bar, 4wd low range and move off slowly taking up slack until it pulls out or slips up the trunk than back up wack the roots with an ax and pull it again.
Make sure you have good chain and a slip hook on one end, and make sure you have enough chain,, remember you can not have to much or too many chain's.
But the most important thing is to think it all through first, your little guy will get things done, just think it through first and most of all have fun:D

Do you have a FEL? If yes, then put some ballast in the bucket before you start pulling. Try to keep all four on the ground.

Thanks for the info guys.

Mbu that should be made a sticky. That's a wealth of information to be shared..

I will be stopping at the dealer to look for a proper mount and draw bar for my tractor. I see where a 3 pt drawbar bar has benefits but the right tool for the job.

I am not sure if there is some confusion about the term "drawbar". The bar mounted between the lower links of the 3 point hitch is sometimes referred to as a drawbar. The drawbar in most of the posts in this thread is the steel frame between the rear wheels and about 7" above the ground. In my BX xx70 Operators Manual its shown in a diagram on page 31, item #8.

Frame mounted is a drawbar.the other is a 3 pt mounted drawbar as it was explained to me by the resident farmer. Had me confused for a while.

For my BX, I replaced the stock thing with a receiver. Works good.

I put a good receiver hitch in that. Don't like the drawbar between the 3PH links....

Don't remember the price, but it was fair, and it's solid. Web address is on it - OMNI-mfg.com

They had some other cool stuff for BX's also.

Better term for the three point bar, would be tool bar. ;)

Stopped at my dealer and he said kubota doesn't offer a frame mounted drawbar. He recommended an adapter like the omni trailer hitch adapter or bxpanded. He also recommended the 3 pt tool bar with top link found at Northern tool .

Mike, head over to HF or TS and pick up a trail hitch and weld up a plate to it drill a couple holes and bolt it to where the drop pin hitch was, the pick up a shank with a ball slip it in and put the pin in and your good to go. Thats what I did and and I can pull anything I can hook to it,, with in reason ofcourse
