I have a BX24 with 900 hours on it and the manual recommends valve adjustment. Does this engine have hydraulic valve lifters? Thanks

If it recommends adjustment then no, the whole point of hydraulic lifters is they automatically compensate for valve wear. Adjusting the clearance is very easy with this setup though. You'd be hard pressed to find a more accessible valve cover and all you need is a set of feeler gauges (hardware or autoparts store would have then) a wrench and a flat head screw driver. This is smooth sailing compared to something with buckets and shims or a Ducati (shudder). If you feel up to it I can walk you through it, though we'd need the valve clearance numbers first.

I just talked to a Kubota tech at Golden Eagle equipment and he said the engine has hydraulic valve lifters and also said they haven't adjusted the valves on any BX 24 for regular maintenance, one with 5000 hours. Even though Kubota recommends it for all engines.
