We got snow and i am sliding all over the place with loaded tires do tire chains make a huge difference in sub compact tractors? B2650.

If so can anyone suggest what type of chains i should buy and where to buy them? I don't know if tractor supply would have them in store. They are costly and look like a pain to put on. :)

My tires are R4 12.4 - 16

Also should i buy Chain Tensioners?

Thanks for the input.

Chains of the B7100 AND on Big Berta AND they never come off. Tensioners are heavy tarp straps after I get them cinched as tight as possible. GOOD quality chains are indeed expensive. But only once have I had a cross bar break.

But we don't have any hard surface to scratch up. Lastly, I don't ever have to find them ever again in 2' of snow ;).

Yes, they make a HUGE difference!

Are you having trouble moving, or steering?

Yes, they are expensive!

Or cheaper

Cheaper yet, but not nearly as good, the cross links like to slip down between the lugs of the tire ... https://www.tirechainsrus.com/produ...thickness=10mm&attribute_pa_full-size=12-4-16

Either tensioners or rubber bungees ...

My big girl has cross links - and one of 'em broke years ago. The toy tractor has cross bars but not all of them fall into the lugs. If it was more of a problem I'd have cross bars on both. Thank the Lord both have rear diff locks and I use the lever or floor push button before I need to. It's a pat your head while rubbing your tummy thing x 2 or 3 though.

Do you guys think i would need wheel spacers before they would fit?
I have the OEM spacers on my L2501. I don't know if I needed them or not. If you can handle putting the spacers on, I'd probably buy them. They add stability.

But, you could try the chains without them. You don't need that much clearance for rear chains. You can look on the inside and see what you have now. More space will make it easier to put the chains on though.

Someone with a B2650 will probably chime in.

I used my riding snowblower(SSCUT ) today.5-6 hours seat time, yeah my butt Hurts !. Generic 'tire chains'' for a rider, bungee corded to keep them tight to tires. Had ZERO traction problems dealing with the 2' of snow from overnight, so YES, chains make a HUGE difference !

Tire chains make a huge difference in snow and, especially, ice, much, much, much more improvement than any added ballast.

Go to the tirechains.com website and read the information regarding types of available chains. You will find more information than you will ever need.

Tractor supply, etc., will not have tirechains in stock. Order yours from tirechains.com after doinig your homework.

You will need wheel spacers if your 2650 is a cab version but not if open station.

If you take the time to properly fit your chains (I know of no one aside from myself who actually does this) and install them properly, they will not move and tensioners will not be needed.

I've been running grooved tires on the last two tractors and that's been enough for traction. My first tractor here was a 2WD Cub 154 LoBoy with old diamond pattern turfs on the rear. It would not move in the snow without chains. With chains it went like it had 4WD.

Can anyone out there with a B2650 ROPS confirm that you do not need wheel spacers to run chains? My tires are goodyear sure grip lug 12.4 - 16.

I also use a mid mount mower which appears to not work if you use wheel spacers.

MUST HAVE CHIANS. At least for my situation, I have the smallest compact, BX1880.
Got them at chains dot com

I have turf tires and they are great in snow - but - I loose steering when pushing full loads of snow.
your tires may be a bit bigger diameter so clearance may be tight.
