Been down this rabbit hole. Started with two 55 gallon steel drums that started to form surface rust inside. Switched to white plastic drums and had one crack on me. Fortunately it cracked above the fuel level. After that I found a 100 gallon aluminum tank off a Freighliner truck at the salvage yard. I think I paid $80 for it.

I have a $65 eBay 12V pump, hose, nozzle setup. Last year I bought a auto shutoff nozzle for another $30 and added a goldenrod filter. Plumbed it with PVC pipe.

I have a local delivery company fill it and still pay a little less than on road pump price.

looks fantastic and your idea of fuel tank off a semi has me thinking as I have a highway tractor wrecking yard very close by.

one comment though.... I was told once PVC for pure diesel is no problems. But for biodiesel blends due to the solvent used in the bio diesel it softens some types of rubbers and pvc fairly quickly.

For sure I am no expert just something I was told once. Maybe something to research?

First use of the new transfer tank today to fill tractor and rented Cat 315. Fittings were dry except for a slight leak at nozzle swivel. Bit of jockeying to get hose to reach and power from my car battery but managed. Going to move tank up closer to top of hill where the action is once I level a spot and finish a shed to protect from elements.

Do yourself a favor, put the tank on a trailer and a battery with a solar charger.
Then it's good to go all the time.

Working on that Wolfman. Thanks. For now though, will build a small shed with scrap wood I have.

Finally got around to reviewing my posts. Never uploaded pics of "finished" pallet/shed fuel tank. Designed to be as light as possible to be movable with forks. Thanks for all the tips and advice along the way. Have the solar panel and deep cycle battery and controller yet to install Wolfman. In the interim, using tractor or mini ex battery to power pump. Did try the auto nozzle but it is not compatible with the pump I chose. So using the manual nozzle for now. Setup is a vast improvement over hauling gerry cans back and forth.

Nice job! What size tank is that?
Thanks. 100 gal. "BetterBuilt" from Northern Tool. Approx $450 on sale. Not including pump and filters. TSC has similar tanks.

How are you filling the tank? I also have a 100 gallon tank on a home-made skid and load the tank in my truck to take to the filling station.

I am lucky enough to have a truck stop/fuel company (Evans Fuel) 2 miles away. Spoke with owner and he was kind enough to make exception for a low volume client. Estimating that I will only use about 300 gallons of off road diesel a year. I rented a large excavator this past summer to do stumping and having the tank available on site increased efficiency. I even get a $ 0.40 discount per gallon off the retail pump price. Thinking of adding a second tank with regular diesel to use in my on road truck. Wife thinking of switching to diesel vehicle as well.
