Most of New Mexico prices are lower. I’m sure that you were seeing interstate prices.

We are at $4.09 in Alabama. But, one thing I have noticed is the gap between gas and diesel is narrowing. Right now diesel is about $.50 more a gallon now and it was over $1.00 here, not long ago.

We returned on the 1st of this month/June…and travelled 5K miles in May from Tx, thru UT, ID, MT, WY, CO, NM and back….. we bought diesel in small towns and on Interstates, and the price was $5 to $6 in most places.
Had a great trip anyway. (despite a blown-tire on the Airstream while on the Interstate 50 passing thru Grand Junction. THAT was a real experience.

(One 18-wheeler…. “Freight Express”… company-driver…. should get an A-zz whippin’ for not pulling over and nearly blowing the my travel-trailer off the jacks, despite my having placed 3 traffic-triangle warnings 100-ft apart for 400 ft back. Zero excuse..no one in the left lane to prevent him pulling over.)

I just think it’s odd how much it varies among various stations within 20 miles of each other. Highest prices at smaller stations in lower traffic areas: $4.99. Cluster of truck stops on the interstate 10 miles away: $4.15 at all three.
