There has been a slight increase in population in recent years that may account for the necessity of emission control.

Yeah, and did they tell you that long before the industrial revolution the earth's climate was experiencing wild changes in climate conditions that today they claim to be caused by mankind?

Very low world population, very few gasoline engines, very few diesel trucks, the word "pollution" had likely not been created......... BC.;)

Yeah, maybe God couldn't see that far in to the future and had no idea about the industrial age... either that or maybe He forgot to mention anything about it.

If they try that maybe Americans will have a Cliven Bundy like stand off with the feds... nah, Americans just lay down and allow our freedoms to just slip away these days. (Bundy ended up being right and due to government misconduct was never prosecuted for the 2014 stand off)

Used to be home of the brave and land of the free back in the day... not so much anymore. Sad but true. </rant>
Bundys were not right and have no rights to free grazing on public lands. Every other rancher pays for their grazing leases. Nobody has a right to free grazing: you either purchase private land, or pay lease fees to the private or public owners.

So in reality what is DEF? I have heard everything from refined JP4, to liqued fertlizer, and all kinds of things, so in dumb terms really what is it ?
Its Urea, and how it works is...
From the interwebs:
Small quantities of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) are injected into the exhaust upstream of a catalyst, where it vaporizes and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia (NH3) is the desired product which in conjunction to the SCR catalyst, converts the NOx to harmless nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O)

Even Mexico doesn't. If you buy a Ford 6.7 diesel NEW, it comes without a DPF and no urea injection. From the factory.

Global regions. Asia and Africa as a whole don't care about pollution.

Ah, so that proves the laws are not needed!

No, it proves those people don't care.

Try living in Beijing or Guangzhou for a while, as I have. It's not only nasty, it's bad for your health.

I like my 6.7 Ford diesel, it doesn't smoke, stink or rattle and has a lot of horsepower. I would not want an old 7.3 that was about as uncivilized as they come. Adding some DEF a couple of times a year is a small price to pay to get something that isn't a pig. While I don't have a tractor that is large enough to have a DEF system, I would have no problem with running a modern engine.
I like my 7.3L. I like the straight pipe from the turbo back, no DPF, no DEF, the fact that it didn't cost $85k, the fact that it's still running great 20 years later, the fact that it's reliable, and that it does a good job of pulling my trailers and tractors around. The DP-Tuner chip and programmer really helped with hp and torque. Not a 6.7L by any means, but a good truck that hopefully will run for many, many years to come.

Not sure what you are talking about. I never said a thing about whether emissions laws are needed or not. Nor any other laws. All I did was state a fact.

Sorry, it was someone else who said they are not needed. I read your response as supporting that idea.

Yes, and Jehovah drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden in a Fury.
And, David´s Triumph was heard throughout the land.

The 7.3 was the best of the Powerstrokes. But I am partial to my simple 5.9 I6 Cummins.

Nice! Talk about a bullet proof and proven engine. I always like the distinctive sound of those older Cummins engines.

I trying to decide on getting the 2007 Kubota L4400 (44hp 4x4 621 hours) or the 2009 KUBOTA Tractors M4800 (50hp 4x2 720 hours)

I recently closed on buying a few acres of land.... so the hunt for a good used tractor is ON!
