1. There’s nothing about the kid having a gluten allergy. If the kid had an allergic reaction to gluten, he’d be going to a hospital in an ambulance rather than being picked up by his parents. So it has nothing to do with people who have legitimate anaphylactic reactions to gluten.

2. The parents are so soft and scared of everything, they dress in multiple layers of bubble wrap. Their kid isn’t allergic to gluten, but he’s having a mental breakdown to the point of needing to be taken home by his parents due to ingesting normal bread after his parents have convinced him of the evils of gluten. They’re making him as soft and anxiety ridden as they are. It’s a comment on a troublingly significant subset of parents and children in current American society.

3. If you got it without the lengthy explanation maybe it’s humorous, maybe not. That’s subjective and not arguing that point. Regardless, if it has to be explained to this degree, it’s not humorous. 🫤

It took the kid years to find out she has a gluten allergy. She suffered for years before an accidental blood work mistake found it. That changed her whole demeanor after she changed her diet and life style. So yep aint nothing funny about it!
