Very interesting.

Given the amount of fluids (translation...$$$$) your big tractors use, I'm sure the data you get from the analyses is well-worth the cost....Maximize fluid life/efficacy, but not beyond....
The cars and farm truck gets the same treatment. Lubricants are cheap compared to a rebuild and oil analysis lets yo know that all is well inside the engine.

One thing I learned a long time ago is, buying in bulk always costs less with lubricants and greases, so long as you have the capability to dispense them.

Like my grease. I buy 150 pound open head drums of grease and fill my hand grease guns with the bulk greaser. Lots easier, less messy and much cheaper. I use synthetic grease with a high pour point because it needs to stay on when in the field.

You'll pay a drum deposit but that comes back when you turn in an empty drum and most suppliers will deliver too and to a lesser extent, keeps the plastic jugs out of the landfill.

I'm all for that. I probably change my little BX fluids more than necessary, but it makes me happy. Like you said, cheap insurance and it's my $$.

I never used a grease cartridge until I was a young adult. As a kid on the farm, we always filled grease guns bare-handed from a drum....kinda messy, but entertaining for a youngster!

We don'y have a local Kubota dealer here, I recently called the nearest one and asked if there was anything else I could get locally that would work as well. They said they were finding that especially with older models most other types would start to foam after several months use, cavitating in the pump. The only one they would recommend was Shell Spirax S4TXM, which is also not available here so I ended up ordering the Kubota fluid anyway.

As cheap as I am, I clean the bottoms of the 150 pound grease drums with a plastic scraper and put the grease in the new drum.... Bulk greasers don't suck to the very bottom.

Been thinking about getting a couple clear barrels for the air guns so I can see when they are full. Always a crap shoot bulk filling.

I use Lubrication Engineers Teflon base synthetic grease (red) and it's almost 1500 bucks a drum so I use every bit. Good stuff though, You get it on your hands it almost has to wear off.

I get almost 3 years from a 150 pound drum and that is greasing all the equipment, the trucks and my shirt sleeves regularly.

Interesting. My supplier has Shell lubricants as well. I'll check on the Spirax. I have no cavitation issues with the Chevron at all. I do warm up the tractor before I use it even in the summer and idle it before shutting down, something I learned from running big trucks.
