I have a neighbor selling a Kubota L245DT. It has the front end loader, scraper blade and 5' bush hog. It has good tires, new seat, about 900 hours on it.

I am wondering if anyone every determined if you can add power steering for a reasonable price? I am assuming this tractor is going to be rough to steer with anything in the loader with no power steering!

Also, I am considering these 2 options:

1) buy this L245DT and keep my grasshopper zero turn for mowing duties. The L245DT I can buy for $5K with all theattachments. My mower has a buyer right now for $2K. Its a 1989 718D grasshopper. So I figure I have about $7K in the whole thing for option 1

2) Sell my grasshopper zero turn mower, buy this other Kubota BX2200 with front end loader and 60" mid mount deck for $8K. It is an 03 model with 540 hours on it.

Any thoughts or opinions????

Buy the BX2200.........The old 245 is an old reliable machine, but you would be much better off with the newer unit in terms of comfort, reliability, and maneuverability. Those are old tractors and lack alot of nice features available today. Ive owned four L series tractors over the years and would never go back from a B series especially if it has hydrostatic transmission. Good luck.

I have a L225DT gray model which is little smaller than the good ol 245. My little wifey drives it all over the back yard doing some serious "modifications" to the landscape and she does not have any problem at all steering it. :D
