Good day all,

I am building a D722. This is my first engine rebuild, I am doing it based on logic and hopefully good intuition. I need to know, the connecting rod bearings need to go in tomorrow morning, and I have no idea if the press out part in the corner needs to be same side or opposing sides.

Every engine i have built has had the locating tabs/tangs together on the same side of the rod. And jenkinsr is absolutely right, each cap needs to stay with the rod it came off of. If you have them mixed up you will have to use a very accurate bore gauge to rematch them to the correct rods. Any engine shop will be able to do this if you don't have the equipment.

Bought new bearings. Marked the pistons though.
First off, good on you for rebuilding the engine. It can be a very satisfying project. But only if it works - and given the first question you have asked and not marking the conrods, I'd say that you are badly in need of the engine workshop manual. For goodness sake, please get one :)
