Hi. I'm doing my 50 hour maintenance on my GR2020. Do I need to remove the deck to drain the fluid? I have a Mo-Jack and can raise the front end, but the deck still won't be vertical.

I do it one of 2 ways. I either put a small pan under the deck and allow it to drain but I've had bad luck with huge messes doing that. So normally I use my MightyVac system and simply suck it out.
My deck is simply too heavy for my to casually pull it out. That 60" deck weighs more than my first entire lawn tractor LOL

I imagine you'll need the deck level (horizontal) to achieve the proper fill level.
On or off - your choice.

Thank you. That makes sense. I actually wondered if there was a device out there to suck fluids out. Now I know.

I use an “evacuator” (some are called ”extractor”) on SOME of my equipment….but not all. I bought a tank-style from HF and it does a good job….… (contrary to popular opinion, I find they extract MORE oil than most drain-plugs.)
… BUT…. not on my tractor, for example, because that engine has a “tunnel” in it’s oil-sump (pan) which divides the sump into two sections. A vacuum-tube cannot access both sections. I have to Open and use Two Drain Plugs in that engine-sump.

I mention this because I’m not familiar with a GR2020… and wanted to provoke some thought about the shape of Some oil sumps that may have divided areas.

The GR2020 lawn tractor with a 48" deck has less than quart in the gear box. I think an extractor would be overkill. YMMV

Less than a qt in the 60" also but it is certainly not overkill. Would I buy one simply to do that? No, but, if you have one it makes the job sooooooo much easier
