Can anyone recommend a FEL boom for lifting timber posts?

Hey all!

I’m looking at doing a little timber framing and I am thinking of using a QA skidsteer boom to hoist some timbers up to the second floor, or if safe, to hoist rafter timbers.

I have B2601 With a 434 FEL, 3rd function for the FEL, and a BH70 that I can put weight in the bucket for added ballast. The loader will get me 6.5’ up. Ill need 10ft minimum. I would love to get 16-20’ total lift, but I worry about capacity and balance.

Most timbers will be between 75 and 150lbs. A few will hit around 300.

I’ve been looking at the Quality Welding Service Boom

Bbuilt hydraboom,
http://www.bbuiltmfg.com/boom-poles.htm

And the Skidpro telescopic boom
https://skidpro.com/skid-steer-attachments/telescopic-boom/

Any advice and suggestions would be very helpful.

Thank you.

All of the ones your looking at are much too heavy for your tractor, you need to stay in the 150lb unit weight range for the boom pole in order to make it usable, note with a little B your going to get really unstable trying to lift 300lbs up at any distance from the front of the tractor.

Wear your seat belt, prepare to become catapult projectile, and have fight insurance! ;)

So I should look for a Jib boom instead? That keeps the load vertical and more parallel with the bucket, and the attachments are generally light weight.

Two of those are more than your loader will handle at full height. You need light weight. A 100lb load, 5 feet away from pins is a massive stress. I gave up on JIB idea for trusses on my garage extension. My BX can only lift 650lbs. 16' feet up and a few feet out, it wouldnt take much to topple me over.

I think I will look for a different solution, like a non tractor attached hoist or crane. I appreciate all of the input and advice here very much.
