My research shows a Grade 8 bolt for the fan and a Grade 5 for the augers. Is this right ? What do you all run ? I have not broke any yet after 2 winters worth of white stuff. Set a new all time record for snow by me here in Wi. Just want to get some spares for ( just in case ), thanks. PS, if I order the NEW worm drive, part # 70001-00683, did they all get updated to the meat grinder style ?

Some of those bolts are special, I would get the first set from a dealer to be sure.

SwampCat -
I do get mine from the dealer for my BX2750D. They're $2+ each, but most years I just break a couple. Better them than a gearbox, etc.

They're grooved.

Hopefully you can read my Part numbers (I keep a sheet in my wallet with all Model, Serial, and P/N's). Not sure a BX2750C is the same, but betting pretty close.

You need to check which style of shear bolt location you have.

The one with the shear bolt through the fan shaft is the old style and was trouble. The new ones come with the flange style. The black one in the photo is a retrofit. New blowers everything is orange.

The caution on the grooved shear bolts is to be followed. Some dealers have provided wrong bolts to owners.

Dave - I had forgotten that improvement to some blowers. You had posted that over the winter if my memory serves. Also, not sure if mine are Grade 2, 5, or 8, but in my notes if I say Grade 8, I look for that color.

For SwampCat - my BX2750D is the type through the impellor shaft, not the improved flange-style.

I have had two different BX2750D. Latest model has the flange shear bolt, original had the Gr8 bolt thru the shaft.
The design/shear bolt depends on the serial numbers. Serial numbers 21219365 and up use the Gr5 flange shear bolt. Those below use the Gr8 thru the shaft, which was a horrible design. The reason I got a new 2750D was that the old one eventually warped the drive shaft when I sucked up a small piece of 2x4. Repair costs (and new gear box) was about 1/2 the price of a new blower, so I got a new one....

Thank you all for the info. Mine is the old style with just a bolt through the shaft. Just wanted to make sure it was a Gr. 8.
I think auger bolts are different than the fan bolt
