I started the BX & hydraulic oil dropped from somewhere under the rear fender assy. Obviously something has failed but with all that bodywork sitting over the back end, I can't see a thing other than oil on the floor. Other than get someone else to do it, has anyone got some advice, not just about removing the fender but what are the most common causes or failures of seals in what sits beneath the fender? Google search it & I'm likely to end up on a website devoted to elephant seals, sea lions or another species.

#1 look at the axle seal.
Other than that there aren't many seals on that end of things.

Thanks for that info. Appreciated. Now, just to go a step further, before I get into fender removal duties, to see what's going on or if a rat's chewed through one of many hydraulic hoses, is an axle seal accessible & replaceable without fender removal or even removing the axle? Excuse the ignorance but what would be involved, briefly?

Forget what I've just written, I've just found a Youtube video that shows what's involved. I should have done that first but we're all great experts with 20/20 hindsight!
