BX25D Backhoe - more balls?

I've had a BX25D for about 18 months and have only used the backhoe for a few hours, as I find that it doesn't seem to have a lot of power to it. While it's less backbreaking than using a shovel, I don't think it could do much more than I could with a shovel in terms of it's ability to really move dirt.

I often find that as soon as I get the bucket into the ground, the hydraulics just whine like it's at the limit of it's power. It works, but it just takes a lot of time, scraping away layer by layer instead of really getting buckets full out.

I'm sure that this is probably pretty normal for a small machine like this, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice for me as to how to get a little more balls out of my backhoe so I'm more inclined to use it.

(I've already done the 50hr service and made sure the SuperUDT is topped off)

Thanks guys!

Sounds to me like you need to check and possibly set the hydraulic relief valve. My BX25D will devour hard clay and do so with enough force to toss the entire tractor around, I have to to be careful I do not throw my self from my perch!

I've been recently working out my new BX23s backhoe. This is a crappy picture but keep in mind this is a tree ROOT, not trunk.

I do not have a problem digging with my bx25d with a 12***8221; bucket.

Made many ditches.
Dug out my old driveway concrete crossover pipe.

Ran electrical.

When I first got it I dug out a 6***8217; hole.

I always call 811 every spring to tell them I am doing various projects.

It is not a big boy but I do a lot more than with a shovel.
It is not As good as Mike Mulligan nut it gets the job done!

Awesome, thanks guys - I have never messed with the hydraulics other than just checking fluid/filter/strainer at 50hr service so I will order the BXpanded kit and try that!

Really appreciate the help!

You a gonna find the "cold" temp to be aroung 1700-1800 psi.....

2000 psi is a nice round number that will not strain the system!

AND you will see and feel a difference;)
