How are ya'll shifting from slow (turtle) to fast (rabbit) speed?

I come to a stand still and drop engine to idle speed, but I get a grinding more times than not.

Suggestions, Tips?

I just stop and shift, in or out of low range. I usually slow the rpm's but it'll sometimes grind if I get in a hurry making the shift. Try stopping in neutral.

Hmmm.. What do you mean by stopping in neutral? Right now when I do the shift I'm already stopped and in neutral. Finding and sitting in neutral isn't an issue. It happened a few time to me yesterday. Sometimes it just slid right in!

I noticed if I do it while pressing brake is REALLY grinds good.

added:

I just RTFM again and it said to depress the forward pedal to help align the gears in the transmission.

Guess I'll try that again, thought I did though, maybe that's what got it to work out. -can't remember

I'll hazard a guess, since your tractor is new the forward/reverse pedal is still a little stiff, and not always centering completely. If you take your foot off of the pedal does the tractor ever creep a little? Try jogging it forward and back slightly to ensure it's centered, then, with your foot on the brake try shifting. I think the grinding is because the gears are still turning a little, because a little hydraulic pressure is going through the foot treadle after you lift your foot. I would expect that this will improve with use, and a little warmer weather.

You know what, I think you are exactly correct. It is creeping and it was super cold out!

Thank you.

Yes it has. I was rocking yesterday too! Spend six hours straight on the Kobito. All my neighbors' driveways got plowed, including my street, and the bus stop. Man and machine were one! That is until my feet got so cold I couldn't feel them anymore. What's more, when I went to back into the shed Kobito grew! The ROPS now rubs the top entrance of the shed!

Dom,

I too have the same problems, more with the 4 wd than the range shifting.....
most of the time if i need to back out of 4wd into 2wd, it will not go, so i either give it a little forward or backward movement and she pops right in. I have had the high/low do that too, same answer, a little movement on the forward/rev pedal and it moves right in, I would say less than 30% of the time I need to help it in - most of those times I am on a slight incline to boot!
I too moved a crap load of snow the last good snow storm we had here, my inside of my right leg near my thigh was soar as hell from moving from forward to reverse, I had boots on that were huge!!! But they were warm!!!
It is warming up here, I HOPE, and I look forward to pushing those hours up on the ol girl!!!!:D
