So... I am seeing sooo many posts about the HST fan on the BX. Personally, I have buried my tractor in mud, muck, and Horse S#!T more times that I can even count. I have even ran over brush and God Knows what. Every time I check the thing, there is not even a spec of dirt on it. What am I missing? Why is everyone so freaked out about this?

Your's is a newer machine that has the little bitty shield under it. Mine does too - and additional body armor too.;)

All you need is one stick to get in there and ....well - you know the end to that story!:)

Same here, I've used mine as a bulldozer cutting trails through the woods, toppling small trees and brush and never had anything "hit the fan" as so to speak.

I can see how it could happen easily so I guess I've just been lucky. With that said, if you take the BX on anything but a freshly mowed lawn is isn't like you'll be splitting the tractor that afternoon as some make it out to be.

No pics, but my BX2360 has the little plate, and I'm careful with it.

It still has some very small knicks in the fan blades.

I got the Bxpanded under armor this year.....my preference was Bro-Tek, but figured I didn't need anything with MMM on.

You guys have been very good and careful, or lucky!

Since I do all my own maintenance, I figured the better skid plate was good insurance.

I had seen pictures like maclean's, and didn't want to go there for a $15 part.

I really don't want to do that replacement if preventable.

Only takes three or four hours. Good rainy day project. I have the Brotek skid plates...but I bought the 3" spacers...so the sticks aren't getting in from below...now they are getting in from the sides.

I too have heavy brush I am clearing. I've learned a lot...chainsaw stuff down...dig out the little stumps with the backhoe...pick everything up with the grapple...run around picking any stick longer than 6"...

Just wait until you punji stick a tire or two...
