Last spring I had my brush mower on my bx24 & the rear tire flipped a stick
up into my tranny cooling fan & broke all the blades off. You pretty much have to disassemble the tractor to repair it. Didn't want to go through that again.
I cut a piece of old conveyor belt I had & made a shield. Put it on with 6 zip ties. Works great. It still gets plenty of air & doesn't heat up.

Yep a lot of guys have either gotten a steel plate to cover the hole or they have done something like you have, good fix you have made yourself there! ;)
