Hello there and thanks in advance for the help.

I do the maintenance on my dad's BX 24. Just replaced the Solenoid / Stop switch that failed necessitating that we manually kill the engine at each shut down

Good news is the key now kills the engine, bad news is that as soon as I put it in gear, the motor dies.

I asked my dad if he messed with anything else and he is unsure. He mentioned that there is a common mod that is done to keep the tractor from shutting off going down an incline (apparently too sensitive).

I'd like to be able to use the key again, any suggestions on how to remedy the situation would be much appreciated.

Found a switch under the seat that was half plugged in. Bent is straight, cleaned the contacts and connected it and every thing works again. Sure is a sensitive switch though. Noted that on bumpy terrain, it cut the engine out, not fully but cuts in.
