BX23S PTO Will not engage

About 50 hours on my BX23. Used the mower only a few times. Now PTO will not engage. When lever is engaged the seat safety switch works so it seems like the electrical system thinks the gears are turning but mower will not engage. Any thoughts?

PTO selector lever stuck between mid and rear? Easy to do, not so easy to shift it. I don't care for how Kubota did that.

lugbolt knows much better than me, and it was my first thought also...

The PTO levers are finicky on my older BX. Bet I hit one once a month that causes some sort of failure. I get the on/off lever all the time getting off, causing it to quit or not start. First thing I check...

Nothing happens at all when I engage the lever. It does not matter which PTO position is selected.

I thought I read somewhere to check linkage under the seat. It seems like it would be something simple. Nothing drastic happened. It worked, then next time nothing,
