I have a BX2350 with mid mount mower that I can't keep cool while mowing on a warm day. I usually mow at 3500RPM and not mowing tall grass. The temp gauge runs right at the red line.Screen and radiator are clean and tractor runs fine. any ides? Thanks for the help.

You're over reving.

The MMM only requires 3050rpm engine speed for 2500 deck rpm.
Knock the revs back . Just because these supermini blocks can
hit 3600rpm , doesn't mean that's how it should be abused.
I live in a hot climate and the radiator really isn't large enough
for the machine . If I over-rev , then it overheats too.

Thanks OrangeRidge. I guess I did not realize I was running it too hard. I will give it a try. I also thought of placing a small insulating blanket between the muffler heat shield and the engine block at the front of the tractor.Just a 1/2 inch blanket hose clamped to the shield.Bad or worth a try? Thanks again.

I wouldn't bother with that . You'll notice that the temp sensor is
right next to the muffler , but the bi-metal part is "in the engine"
metal , so it doesn't really pickup exhaust heat in the reading.
The fan and tractor movement does shift air around under the hood
reasonably well . The rad could do with being half bigger ...........

For what it is worth, I have seen many posts here about hot engines. So, when I bought a BX1860 I placed a double layer of aluminum foil between muffler and the sensor. Never had the gage go above 1/2 a result, but maybe it would not do so anyhow.
