I bought a badly abused BX2200 and slowly getting everything back in working condition. Everything necessary to mow and use the pto was working and i am finally changing the wiring harness as it was badly ripped apart and the lights and guages were not working.

I hooked everything back up on the dash panel and the engine, defeated the seat sensor since it has a non Kubota seat with no sensor. The engine turns over perfectly but will only stay running if I keep the key turned 1 notch past the normal spot. IOW, it will only stay running if I keep my hand on the key. If you turn the key one notch CW from center, the engine light and the battery light come on. Two notches and the glow plug works plus the dash light comes on. Three notches and the engine starts. Everything is normal until you release the key and the engine dies. I spent a few hours troubleshooting and have the repair manual but getting frustrated.

The only other thought is that the hydraulic control is not hooked up but I see no switch for it and it was never hooked up before.

Any other thoughts on what I am missing? Thanks

Start with the fuse for the fuel shut-off solenoid. If the fuse is ok then check the wire connections at the starter and at the solenoid. If ok ohm the solenoid to see if it failed.

Thanks so much for the help. I finally found the problem and you were right, it was a fuse but not sure if it was the same one you mentioned.
What confounded the problem is that the fuel cut-off had been removed as well as the timer delay. As I said, this Kubota was in bad shape and the old wiring harness was a can of worms.
I looked at the 20 amp fuse and it looked OK and it was brand new as part of the new harness but it was defective and metered 0. Once I switched it for the old one, the engine ran as normal.
Now I can finally get the headlights working too.

Wow, so simple a fix but hours to find it. Very frustrating. Thanks again for helping.
