Just purchased a BX1500 w/loader and belly mower and I'm looking to add a tiller. I have a small 5 acre hobby farm but only plant about an acre. Not sure how big small of a tiller I need to go, see a few on ebay that are 37" but rated for a tractor 20hp or higher. From reading some posts here and other forums seems like the tractor can handle something like that.
Heres an example of what I'm talking about:

My old 15hp l1501 was set up and used specifically for tilling, and I wouldn't hesitate to run a 48" tiller on it. You can always check out some places locally that have used tillers and see if you can bring your machine over for a test fit. And if they have a spot to try it, even better :)

Yea it seems everything I'm reading I feel more comfortable looking for 48" tiller to add to the setup. Figure it can be used for rear ballast as well.

Make sure that the drive shaft is either has a shear pin or the mechanical kicker option in case it hits a rock and can be kicked out of service. Mine might be 23 HP but I have a drive shaft with shear pins and I have brought a pound of them in case one is well sheared from a rock.

48" is the max to run, though a 42" may be a better fit. Try to get it large enough to just cover your tire tracks -- with such low power, it's wise to make more passes than it is to run the machine really hard.

Yea leaning now towards 37" with offset to cover the tires...I only till about 3/4- 1 acre so I think that should get done.
