I was wondering about the BX line with backhoe other than digging a ditch what use are those backhoes? I seen guy trying to dig up a stump (pretty big one) for like one full day and didn't get much done. I thought he was going to destroy the tractor. Then next another guy came with a mid size excavator within 30 minutes the stump was gone. Maybe he was just asking too much on that job for the BX to handle.

Stumps can be tough on any machine I dug out stumps with my John Deere 510 that it couldn't lift out of the hole and I ended up digging a bigger hole next to it and rolling the stump into the big hole and just covering everything up.

BX tractors only have a few hundred pound lift capacity they are tough little buggers but you still have to use some common sense.

Well in the year I've had my BX23S I've
dug a 300' French drain system
dug 2 6' deep catch basins
dug up 10-12 nasty tree stumps
'relocated' thorny bushes way back into the pty line
lifted 3-4 car engines and trannies into pickups and trailers
'adjusted' several 24x30 and 30-48 patio stones
carved side of hill to install 14 step steel staircase
carved more to add 6" drainage tile
moved and 'fluffed up' over 100 cu yds of compost
same with 50-60 yards of wood chips
created some 200-300' long shallow swales
created a new firepit

that's what I can remember......

I had 3 40-50 foot tall willows fall. Cleared the roots with my BX. Pulled the stumps out with my Tacoma. It took time but got the job done.

Fixed a couple of drainage issues. First was 250' long. Second was 100' long.

Helped a friend with a drainage issue at his cottage. See picture below.

Cleared out some tough rooted grasses for my mother in law

Unloaded a 500 lb. Plus log splitter from a delivery truck and moved it to my garage with clamped pallet forks.

Spread mulch.

Move dirt, gravel, etc... easily.

Mow my 3.5 acres easily.

Plow 600' + of snow in northwestern PA (snow belt off of lake erie)

Is it the best tool? For everything? Not necessarily. Gets the job done for me.

She has her limitations sure,

But Ive planted 62 trees on my land, installed 2 retaining walls, 2 drains for gutters and my above ground pool.

For the price, why not?

You need the right tool for the job! I have Southern Yellow Pine where I live and those stumps have deep tap roots. I typically just have them ground although I did try burning one.
