After watching a YT video by CallMeColt regarding removing the fuel tank on his BX2350, would it now be as "easy" or even easier to remove the rubber floor mat and floor plate to access the fuel filter adjacent to the lift pump? Thanks.

Hmmm don’t think so. I’ve done both and the fuel filter is sure a pain but so is removing the “STEP”
Take the deck off, loosen the factory guard, swing it out of the way, have some fuel line clamps ready and do the filter swap. Not easy for an old buck but better than the alternative. You’d still have to do all that from the top after removing the step.🤔 Better yet…get one of them bowl fuel filter relocation kits! I did and never a problem since!

Getting older by the day is why I did this.

Or as Mowbizz suggests get a relocation kit or fab your own. Once you do it it's a piece of pie, slice of cake, something like that.

There are A LOT of posts on OTT for this.

About 3 weeks ago, out of the blue the tractor started running a little rough when idling. I have also noticed a slight but noticeable decrease in power when mowing up a slight grade. Have mowed 4-5 sessions @ 1.5-2 hrs or so with this condition. Condition has neither decreased or increased. If I were mowing a constant straight and level, I might not even notice the problem. Hoping it's the rear filter but don't know. Thought I'd replace both filters and if the problem goes away, Then I plan on doing the Racor filter with water separator mod.

I just found out that the tank I've been getting diesel from is contaminated with gasoline. Never smelled it but that's what my BiL told me and showed me in a glass jar. The jar looked and smelled like 100% gas to me. This fuel was from them having to pump - off a station when one their drivers wrongly dumped gas into a diesel tank. I have since run enough non - contaminated fuel through the tractor to have no more gas mix imo.

Got to the point where it wouldn't run. Took it to the Kabota dealer to have it checked out. Hoping it was only the hard to get to filter. They said it could also be the tank. I was thinking they will likely make it the tank for the large labor costs.

While there I had change the hydraulic fluid and HST filter and replace the blades. Evidently it was that first evil filter. Out the door for all the above including both fule filters was arounf 460.00. Whatever. I've mowed a total of approx 8 hrs since and all is well.

In the next several weeks I will very likely upgrade to the Racor 120AT and be done with it. It will be located on the left side frame rail where the bucket arms would be attached.

My understanding is the lift filter rarely goes out. However, I was wondering is there any reason to not move its location to the same area? Thanks.

Awesome you got it back in service. Gas in the diesel is no bueno indeed.

If your BX1870 is anything like my 1880 I just relocated the first (primary) filter next to the secondary filter for convenience of working on them in one location. As long as there's room/clearance and it doesn't stick out prone to being broken off (or just make a guard if it does) go for it.

I have owned my tractor since March of 2013 and I only had to replace the fuel filters once since I bought it. I have almost 2000 hours on it now. I am honestly wondering if two fuel filters are really necessary. Whenever I have to replace them again, I am seriously thinking about bypassing the first filter and just replacing only the one in the engine compartment.

If you're going to bypass a filter bypass the second one in the engine compartment. The first one will prevent anything from getting into the fuel pump.

First filer change (due to poor running) filter near the tank was black with crusties. One after the pump was clean. I replaced both.
Five years later, noticed poor running. Crusties again, this time I only replaced the one close to the tank.
Tractor is now stored in a dry environment and fuel well treated with biocide. Hopefully fixed.

Through a bit of research I found that a clogged filter on these is not so much due to grit from the fuel source but more so the deterioration (rusting) of the sending unit and related hardware inside the tank.

In my case, I believe the 'cuisties' was dead algae. I cut open the filter and the material clogging it was sort of of, like something that bonded to itself as organics (like a scab) do. Had it been rust, it would of been flaky/crumbly, it would not 're-assemble into a solid chunk'.
