Anyone know if Kubota sells just the top part of the ROPS? Haven’t checked yet. Would like to get one, then take it to a machine shop to shorten it. Don’t want to do this on mine in the event I sell my tractor if I upgrade. Would make life a little easier getting into my garage. Just need about 4 inches chopped. Guess I could see if a machine shop can fabricate one. Still want it fully functional to fold though.

Kubotausa parts shows NLA for the 1880 and 2380. I suspect you have to jump through special hoops to get one from Kubota. Maybe one of the used parts dealers on here have one.

What about a pair of “quick-disconnect” pins instead?

Cheap and easy.

Not much to them really, and it makes “take down” very fast/easy…..Love mine.

If you can't find a used one at a decent price as suggested above I'd go the fabrication route. New ones are pricey if you can even find them. North of $700 for a complete unit plus the cost of having the top modified.

Paul Allwood built his own for a B7200 that came out pretty nice although it didn't fold. I would think fabbing your own top piece would be the cost effective way to go.

It's probably a 'legal/safety ' issue so can't sell just the top section. My BX23s wouldn't fit into the 7' 'normal' door height with the ROPS up....royal PITA..
I removed the top section and welded up my own 'sun shade' section about 4-5 years ago. Easily get in and out with less than an inch clearance. Original top section is 'somewhere' in the garage, in case I decide to sell the BX23S.
Never had ROPS in either of my '67 Mustangs, no need for it on the tractor.

i currently have my ROPS pinned at about a 40 degree angle and leave it that way. If I can get that top part about 4 inches shorter, can leave it up, then add some kind of canopy to it or some kind a cheap cab for the winter. Someone posted awhile back that a huskvarna (think that’s what it was) fits good on the BX.

No seat belt and a compromised ROPs. Good stuff. My son would have been under the tractor a few years ago with your setup.

It's a free country.

ROPS is designed to only work when fully up and pinned, according to the warning labels. Also required to have seatbelt on. My seatbelt is store away with OEM upper ROPS section.
Neither of my '67 Stangs had roll bars, nor did 4 of my CJ-5s so I decided my timid tractor didn't need one. After having heat stroke in 2014 ,it's far more important for me to have a sunshade.
Like Mark say free country and I've never understood why ATVs don't have ROPSes....

I'm sure there is some legal line in what gets a rops, and what doesn't ... Don't recall ever seeing a lawn/garden tractor with one, but SCUT and bigger get them ... Most all residential Z-turns don't have them, but the commercial ones do ...

Mine are pinned at about 40 degrees. Still about 6 inches above my head. But would like to have them up all the time.
