I've been poking around looking for the right Gator blade replacement for my BX2670 with a RCK60B23BX mower. Judging from this link it should be PN 96-612:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/k...er-blades.html

BUT that shows a length of 20 9/16" and when I took a quick measurement of my blades (still on the mower) I got 20 5/16". Before I go buying something that won't work I thought I'd ask y'all first. Thanks!

I was shopping for new blades for my RCK54P-BX23 and found that there were two different blade part numbers listed for it. I ended up ordering from ASC and they sent me the one I orders but it turned out to be the wrong part number. It had a much larger center hole than my mower needed. I sent those blades back and ordered the other part number and it fit.

It was a crap shoot as to which one was the correct part number. Even the Kubota dealer was not able to tell me which one would be the correct part number because there apparently was a part number change at some point in time.

Now I have the correct Oregon Blade part number and I order them from Amazon.com. With free shipping the blades cost me $89.80 for 6 blades.

The bottom line is that if you have the correct measurements for the blades, including the center hole size, then you need to match those measurements exactly to be sure that you are getting the correct blade.

BTW, Once I got the correct Kubota part number I was able to match that part number to an Oregon blade part number. The Oregon blades can be obtained at many places for much less money than the Kubota dealer is selling them for. The blades that I bought on Amazon.com worked out to just less than $15.00 per blade, after tax and free shipping.

Also, the blade length is measured "diagonally" (like a TV screen) so that might explain the 1/4" difference you noted.

Will be interested to see how you like them, have heard good things about the gator blade & have been wanting to pick up a set. Will test the factory blades at the lake this weekend, grass should be a foot tall.

'Bumpkin" can you explain how to diagonally measure a straight piece of metal? I take your word for it but visually I can't figure it out.

From out side edge to out side edge,,, like you would if you were going to square up a drawer or posts for a build go from one corner to the opposed corner

The new Oregon blades that I got are not a straight cut at the ends of the blades. They are cut with a slight diagonal cut. This is the reason that they have to be measured from end to end. This is the first set of blades that I have ever seen like that. I'll take a picture and edit this post with the picture when I go out to the shop a little later.

The new blades I got are not measured like the old blades I just got. Even though the new blades and the old blades have the same part number, the new ones are measured from the tip of the left cutting edge diagonally to the tip of the right cutting edge. The measurement is 18 9/16th inches. If you measure from the tip of the left curled end to the tip of the right curled end, the measurement is exactly 18 inches on the new blades. The old blades are measured straight across the center hole from left to right and the measurement is 18 9/16th inches. The old, straight cut blades should not be measured diagonally.

This means that the new blades will get progressively shorter each time they are sharpened. This will result in lines of grass that will not be cut between the blades. This is a crappy deal for us because we will have to buy new blades more often. Especially for those of us that have rocks growing in our yards.
