BX 80 What is this slot in the fender used for? Also Hazard light switch malfunction.

Recently purchased a BX2380 I believe its a 2019, only had 116 hours. There is a stamped slot in the fender, right side, that has marks that suggest there was a bolt or knob there. Diagram below indicates the slot, but it does not show anything there other than the empty slot. What is the function here? Is it for a B-series three point hitch lever stop? Some lever for the TLB model? Why would this one have a round mark in the paint?

Hazard light switch-works momentarily only, its a pushbutton not the lever type. Time to disassemble and service the internals? Directional switch and lights work as they should. I think this tractor spent most of the time outdoors (Southern Canada weather).
Thanks!

don't know about the slot, as I have a BX23S, a close cousin....
but...

K287162262 is the 'switch', $153.xx at dealer.,plus 13% for the guvs....
yeah I just bought one, as I broke off the 'turn signal lever'. still works.

You 'might' get lucky by spraying WD40 around the 4way button, pressing it a zillion times, maybe,
EASY to replace. remove battery screen, press to unlock the connector, gently pull, press 'tabs' at 9 and 3 to release the switch.Maybe 15 minutes if you stop for a sip or two of coffee....

Thanks for that. I will try the WD40 suggestion and fire up my index finger. Hey, I'm up in Canada and we measure project time in "N" x beers. Sounds like a 2-beer job.🍻

No Joy. After the WD40 suggestion failed to make any difference I took the switch apart. The detent mechanism, presumably a ball and spring, were totally rusted in place. No effort would move the ball and the spring was no longer extant. Since I very seldom drive this tractor on public roads, I am going to leave it as is for now. Possible solutions include a new Kubota switch (around 200$CAD after tax), adding a rocker switch to move the hazard function onto the dash panel, or look into Carlisle Technologies CSW Series switches which are about 1/2 the price (68$) of the Kubota switch. Am fairly certain that Kubota sources the switch from Carlisle or the prime manufacturer if Carlisle is only a distributor. They look exactly the same, and these switches are also used on Kubotas' RTV / UTV's.

Suggestions on the net to remove the switch include a thin screwdriver or knife to push on the locking tabs. I found it easier, and less likely to damage the plastic, to reach inside and pull/push on the tabs with my fingers. It readily popped out without a fuss.

Another discovery, is that the battery compartment, battery and radiator are quite dirty and some rad openings are blocked. This is now a priority maintenance item for reasons you all can appreciate. It's likely due to the outdoor storage by previous owner without any cover. Am fairly sure this was an estate sale back to the Kubota dealer where I purchased the tractor.

The slot in the frame is still a mystery, but I noticed today that the 3PTH lift lever can be seen moving below the slot so I am thinking it might have a limiter function on some flavour of the BX series.

aw, you gave up too easily. A dental pick can remove the spring and one from the Princess Auto 'spring kit' will fit. Fun part is when the ball decides to play 'hide and seek' on the gray concrete garage floor.......
It'd be nice to see the Carling 'clone' of the switch...I paid the $200 , and in less than 20 minutes(that includes travel time) was 'all better'.

thanks for the humour...the spring is nonexistent and undoubtedly is quite tiny. Biggest challenge is the old eyesight: will have to set up the luxo magnifier or the neurosurgeon binocs and give it another go...will wait for a rainy day and have at it again, but I think its beyond hope.

There are dozens of versions of the CSW switch; here is the image of the "Horn" function model. I have yet to look for the hazard switch version. This one is 62$ CAD.

Enjoy the evening. Perseids are coming!

a very quick perusal of the ordering numbers info at Carling shows there is a maintained "on-off" option #2 that can be specified for the pushbutton, as opposed to the momentary action.
