I've already broken about 6 shear pins. The weight of the 5455 compared to my old ford lgt is a killer over rocks. In NJ the snow keeps melting so there is NEVER a base that can be formed with the snow. So over asphalt its so great, but over rocks a different story. Snow shoes just don't cut it with softer rocks and no snow base.

I have gone through 5 different types of add on wheel designs until i finally perfected it. I now have 12" no flat swivel wheels with brackets that i can adjust up and down. And the wheels unpin and slide right off when doing the asphalt part. So no more broken sheer pins!
As I said in my post the 2750D seemed cheaply made...like tin for metal but the 5455HD is supposed to be better??? What is your opinion of it? Is it rugged enough for your Jersey storms? Shear pins breaking instead of bending the fan blades is ok with me. Mine actually has splits in the metal from stress. You have had it for two years and other than the weight and shear pins is it standing up to your expectations? Thanks...kevin

Hard to say. We have had it two winters now, and it's been two of the warmest winters. Gonna be in the 60's this weekend.

It has snowed exactly 3 times in the past 24 months. last Feb 2016 was 2 feet of snow. Except for the rocked area - the HD blower worked like a champ. Then it snowed once last month 6 inches or so. Worked good for its 2nd run. This past snow was 2-3 inches but it was hovering around 33 degrees with the sun out. So the snow was wet. Ice/snow froze in the chute a few times to where I just used it as a plow and pushed the snow out of the way.

So one real storm, one 6 incher and one 2 inch for 2 years. It's mostly just sat here. We would need a real winter to be able to say how its gonna hold up. So far I'm happy i went with the HD version. But time will tell.

I can say picking up rocks has scraped away the paint inside - where I keep rust coating/painting it so the bare steel wont rust out on me many years down the road. but no bent anything.

I picked up and installed the 5455HD and it is miles ahead of the 2750D....real steel solid and heavy. The hydro chute control is so much better than the electric one I had. This is what Kubota should have had in the first place. When you compare them its easy to see the 2750D is junk. The 5455HD did a great job yesterday moving large snow piles etc.
