Need some help trouble shooting my BX. I treated the fuel a couple of months ago with an algaecide. A few weeks later it would have intermittent periods where it would lose power. I drained the tank and replaced both fuel filters. Still experiencing the problem. It will start to shake a bit and start losing RPM. When I remove the load it will typically catch back up but in most cases the load is minimal abnd shouldn't stall the tractor. Additionally, when this occurs and I go to WOT the rpms will vary from 2900-3300 back and forth. Any idea what my next step should be?

Can you see in the fuel tank with a flashlight? You may have trash floating in it. I would try removing fuel line and seeing how well the fuel runs out of it into a clear container if possible.

Tank appears to be clear and I have stopped three times to check the fuel flow. It seems to be good but there is still the possibility that when I cut the tractor off to check the blockage dislodges.

Blow all the fuel lines out.. could be a some junk in them before the fuel filter. If yours is like the new bx tractors it has a fuel filter underneath before the electric fuel pump that is pretty hard to get to

You might think about replacing fuel lines as well, over time they can and will look fine but collapse under load, and there is some stuff out there I have heard tell is hard on the lines making then a bit softer than they should be

Great suggestions. I'll do that this weekend. Fairly new to these type machines. I know to take care of the simplest stuff first. Could this be an injector or air getting into the line? Fuel pump?
