Looking at a bush hog for my BX 25. the 4' and 5' both weigh less than the 4' roto tiller I have for it. will the BX25 handle the 5 ft? or do I need to go with 4'??

I have been told the 4' is the way to go, but have no experience myself. My guess is if the grass isn't too long or the trees aren't too large & dense the 5' would work fine. Will subscribe for the smart people to respond.

A 4' and a 5' of the same weight will be different handling. The 5' weight is farther back.

My Kubota dealer told me a 4' would be a little too large for a BX2360. The manual recommends a 42". I ended up with a 4' anyway since there are about thirty 4' cutters for sale for every 42". It handles OK with the loader on. Maybe the recommendation was with loader off.

Brian,
I bought a Bush Hog Squealer 48" 2 years ago for use on my BX 2360. IMHO it has plenty of grunt for keeping our hunting property food plot fields maintained as well as 3-4 ' overgrowth. I do advise you use loader or weight the front end, as i have looked toward the sky with out any weight on front...

Brian,
I really think it's all about what you'll be using it for. I have a 48" on my BX25 and plow over some pretty think brush, acres of blackberries, vines, tall grass, thick weeds, small trees (2-8 ft tall) etc.. As I clear the edge of my manicured space, I get into pretty tight places in the trees. I wouldn't want a 5 ft'er in my case. The maneuverability of the 4 ft'er far outweighs the extra width in the field. If you're going to just maintain a field, I'd say a 5 ft'er would be fine.

I am going to use it around the house property to do edge work, on a couple of small pieces that have hay field (less than an acre and up on my range. the owner has a larger bush hog for up there. I would mostly be using for small stuff.

I use a Land Pride RCR1548 on our 2200 & 2660 and prefer it over a larger one, book recommend a 42", 5' just doesn't work well on a BX.
