Has anyone looked at the BX 1880? Does it have enough HP for the 54” mower? Loader w/ 60” bucket? Tiller etc.? I am looking but not sure if the 1880 is enough, or a 1550(?) in disguise.

The consensus seems to be that the 1880 is basically the same tractor as the 2380, other than slightly smaller wheels and width - which isn't material in most cases - and the lower HP.

For most applications the BX80 is traction limited - so you run out of traction well before you run out of power. And the loader is the same and lifts the same as the 2380 - again it's not a power limitation but a pump limitation.

The situations where the HP matters relate to anything that drives from the PTO, so:
- 60 inch mower can be a problem (I think they don't offer it standard), the 54 should be fine
- wood chippers, snow blowers etc may be down on power
- depending on size of tiller, you might have to go a bit slower

For most people it seems to go just fine, and in general if you've never had 23HP you'll be happy with 18. Everything else is the same. But if you've had 23 you might find it a step down.

Resale on the 2380 is quite a bit better apparently.

I have the BX1870 which is the previous model. I run a 48” mower deck and landpride 1250 tiller. I haven’t noticed any limitations as far as power are concerned.

Please tell me your joking on the 60" loader bucket!

Max loader bucket is 48" and that's asking a lot from a 18HP tractor. ;)

And your only talking 13.5HP for PTO operation, so you better have fairly soft ground driving a small tiller.

And are you talking a B1550?

Tillers are rated for minimum HP, and I wouldn't purchase one where I was up against the minimum HP required. Your soil is also a factor, sandy soil easy my local clay when damp sucks, when dry its half way to concrete.

These diesels have grunt I wouldn't think the mower deck would be an issue. I have a BX2380 and 54" deck it doesn't even know the grass exists.

I have an 1880 with FEL, 54" mower, and front snowblower. Very pleased so far. Good for my 3 acre property. Anything bigger and I would destroy my landscaping.
