Going to see if my dealer can get me a GR2120 to replace my 2005 TG1860 diesel 54” deck. Any issues, perks or problems? I appreciate your input. Thanks!

FWIW, Messick's video about the decline of the garden tractor.

The #1 thing I like about my TG1860 (Diesel) is the rear rider suspension.
If your yard is bumpy, you'll miss it.
Maybe the #2 thing I like is that's a fuel sipping diesel.

I used to have to gas up (refuel) my other gas lawn tractor midway through mowing 2 acres.

Not anymore! I can usually go about 1.5x with the diesel.

YMMV

I wish I had a repurpose for the little diesel in my old TG1860. It still looks, starts and runs like new. Maybe on a band saw mill or such. But too many projects to finish now. I’m going to replace the rear drive belt and tensioner pulley, maybe some scalp rollers and just sell it. Let some one else enjoy it.

Getting back to my thread, I found a 2016 GR2120 with 72 hours on it and bought it. Pretty sweet, looks like a new one. Well cared for, kept inside, cream puff. The husbands health deteriorated and only mowed with it twice. Mrs. said majority of hours over last 6 years was pulling garden trailer around hauling, fertilizer, flowers, pots and landscape material. Probably only drove it to church on Sunday. I fell for it, ha. She didn’t know if it had 50 hour service or not. Oil looked clean but being 6 years old, would you go ahead and put fresh oil and new filter on it or just save the money and drive it? I’m a little OCD about maintenance, might do it anyway. 3 quarts and filter cheap enough.

Congrats on the purchase, that’s a great lawn tractor! And by all means change that oil and filter, no good reason not to.
