Break In Procedure

I have a new 2650. I asked the dealer about the break in procedure. He said to just run it and not worry about the half throttle. Kind of the same as if you want it to run good you have to run it hard.
Thoughts??

Back in the olden days....it was to be broken in.....Chrome molly rings took that away 20 or 30 years ago....keeping oil filled and clean is far more important!!!!!

Drag racing has proven out of the box, that just let it ride...a small diesel doesn't rev and it a different animal...its just high compression high torque...

Be nice don't baby it! My power stroke wasn't called broken in till 100K miles!

Common question, my manuals didn't mention half throttle jut not full throttle which I rarely run on evenn used, broken in machines. I worked my new ones close to the way I do normally, just no full throttle and with occasional changes in RPMs and some cool down cycles, no babying.

When i worked at the ford dealership,the top guy in the shop was the diesel tech.i asked him about the break in procedure.said Drive it like you stole it. The new turbocharged engines have a habit to soot up and become sluggish if you baby them. The older powersmokes were run up in the factory, W.O.T. For a good length of time. I wouldnt idle around at all in the first hours of break in.
