Welcome and remember bigger aint always better,, A 6 footer just loafing along the top of the drive way will stop you in your tracks if you sump it in, of course a 5 footer will to, but the shorted box is easier to maneuver around and will still move lots of stuff,, Just MHO you understand

I think you could go either way depending on the size/weight of your tractor and the type of ground you have. I am guessing that your tractor and mine are similar sized, but not sure. I have no problem with my 5 footer, and often have wished I had gone with a 6 footer. There's no clear answer in my opinion.

I have a little bit bigger tractor L3000DT ag tires with a 6 ft box blade and lots of weight on the front end so i can keep the front tires on the ground. when the box is full of wet dirt it will stop the tractor and lift the front end. i like the 6ft box it hangs out past my rear tires. Also place your top link in the lowest hole that works best in keeping the front end down.

You'll never get the full capability out of a 6' box just from lack of power and / or traction. I have a L3000 and a Bushhog BX 650 Which is 5 1/2' wide and in the right conditions it's a load. With only 4 hp difference between our tractors I would say the 5 1/2' would work well for you as well. If you have a Bushhog dealer close by it might be worth your while to look at one that size.

Thanks for the info. I went to several dealers looked at several different brands. I decided on a 5' "bush hog" brand. It was the heaviest duty 5' I could find . It cost a little more than other brands 6' medium duty, but it appeared to be very well made. I Can't wait to start pulling dirt for my new house.

I have a L275 as listed above. The FEL is on almost all the time. I have a 6' medium duty box blade with an extra 100lbs of extra weight added. Depending on what I am moving, I have been stopped dead - lost traction and this has happened even with a bucket full of the same material that was in the box blade. With out the additional weight in the bucket I will lose traction faster. I would go with the 5 or 5 1/2 footer.
