My 2601 should be delivered next week sometime so now I need to start collecting implements.
My question is I have a 48" front hydraulic blade for a JD 317 and was wondering If it could be converted to a 3 point manual adjust rear blade.

Has anyone done this? I will never use this blade again unless I find another use for it.

It can be but if you do not have the steel you would be better buying a used on and selling that on

As Ike said, modding the blade doesn't sound feasible. You should be able to sell yours and get a 3PH blade that's wider than your new tractor.

Ok thanks for the advice. I don't have the steel on hand so it probably wouldn't be worth the effort for a small blade.

A rear blade can be subjected to some big stresses. I've repaired them, where they'be been ripped apart by hitting a big root. I doubt that a front blade designed for a 317 would be heavy enough to be used behind a larger tractor- unless you are just pushing snow or something else real light. You should have no problem selling it, and then put the money towards a rear blade that will do whatever you need it to.
Besides, your new tractor will handle a bigger blade than 48", and if angled, I bet that that blade wouldn't cover your tire tracks. You'd be better served with a 5' or 6' blade.
