Best tool for adjusting the adjustable lifting rod

Any suggestions? Man it's cold outside.
If you mean the 3PH adjustable rod, a 14" to 18" pipe wrench works very well on the cylinder. The finish on the housing will get bunged up a bit but if you can live with that you'll be set.

The newer ones have a square tube that fits over the cylinder and has slots that lock onto a couple of dogs on the cylinder. There are "D" handles on both sides of the square tube that allows it to easily be turned.

I don't have a really good photo of the newer one but can take one if you are interested. Something might be able to be fabbed up by someone creative.
